Giant Snarry fanart (sort of): Aqua

I got bored, so I started doodling on a new painting. Bizarrely enough, I finished it overnight instead of sleeping. Well, the not sleeping isn't bizarre, but finishing this was. I thought I knew the concept, but at the end I found myself thinking something else.

Oh, and this time Snape really does look like Alan Rickman. That was completely by accident. Really odd too because I haven't watched anything with him in it for.... months. I'm not too keen on it, but at the same time I don't absolutely hate it. Alan Rickman just isn't my Snape. I think he looks a bit weird.

Anyways, there's no sex and technically the single nudity of the painting is from the neck up with some chest showing. So I suppose its worksafe. But please, if you do look at it, please be sure to see it in full size. I think it looks terrible when it's small.

Today's sketch

I started sketching again today. I hadn't sketched in a few days because I'd been feeling pretty bad. Unfortunately all I have to show for it is one boring picture. :/

I had a really bad art day. It took me forever just to do a simple portrait sketch of Snape. It felt like too little for one picture so at the last minute I decided to add Harry. Harry was really half-assed, heh. Neither of them look right. I was originally trying for Snape in his early 20s around the time when he heard the prophecy. I wanted to make him really thin and gangly, but it didn't come out like I'd planned. I wanted him to be a lot harsher than that.

Click on the picture for full-size:

I'm probably leaving it as is. It wasn't a serious piece to begin with and I like the greyish sepia tone. I use it a lot for my base sketching because it's not too dark and not too light and not quite gray. I don't do perfect lines, so I need something like that or else it'd be too messy.

This sketch was done in opencanvas. I sometimes do sketches in opencanvas and finish the image in Painter like I did with my Snarry-A-Thon art, but occasionally I'll sketch in Painter too. It depends on which computer my tablet is plugged in to and what I feel like doing.

Artwork troubles

My picture has suffered a mishap. I hate my attempts at drawing Kreacher, haha. So I'll probably end up just trying Fawkes. I really need to add more detail to Snape's face and body. Harry's pretty much done.

I can't wait to finally finish it. :)

Snarry fanart update

Sorry. I don't have a picture to upload just quite yet, but overall I have the basic sketch almost done. I need to add in a few things, edit here and there. Right now I'm planning to add Kreacher and Fawkes to the picture.

The artwork I decided to use (since this is purely for my own enjoyment) is John William Waterhouse's "The Awakening of Adonis". I'm keeping a similar composition to the art, but of course it won't have the same exact translation. Snape certainly is no young Adonis, but the subject of the painting is sort of a return from the brink of death theme and it's in the same vein. It will definitely be DH-compliant, but EWE. I'll probably post the sketch here and then later post the finished artwork in the Snape_Potter community.

I love John William Waterhouse's style. He's one of my all-time favorite artists along with William-Adolphe Bouguereau. I had wanted to do a Bouguereau composition Snarry, but "The Awakening of Adonis" spoke to me so much more as a possible Snarry composition, that I couldn't resist. :) If I get the base sketch finished tonight (I'm working on a large acrylic and three watercolors right now, so I'm pretty busy!) I'll post it here tomorrow. I'm thrilled that it'll be able to be uploaded to my site so I can host it myself.

As for my other works, I've put the final undercoat on the acrylic. Soon the hard work will start! I love details, but I'm wary of messing it all up. Even so, next month I can bring the work to the art meet and possibly work on it there after I get some comments on it.

Oh, I almost forgot! (CG Update)

I do have one incomplete piece I was able to upload to my site. I can't upload anything truly graphic there because it's in my host's TOS and I really don't wanna piss them off, but I think this should be okay. It's fairly PG-13 I'd say.

Right now I'm just trying to figure out what I'll do with my more graphic Snarry artworks.

Click here for a vampire!Snape/Harry sketch still in its infancy.

I'm having a little trouble with Snape's hand (I was going to have him grasping his wand, but then I decided I wanted his hand to be over Harry's chest, holding him to him. So I'm in the process of fixing that. And yes, Harry's going to be bare-chested while Snape's fully clothed.

Art reposting!

I've already posted both of these on my LJ and the LJ Snape_Potter community respectively and I just thought I'd repost them here since this will be my main fanstuffs blog. Both images have been resized, but you can click on them to see the fullsize. The first is definitely better viewed fullsize, but it's a bit large so consider yourselves warned!

Patronus

The Patronus took a full day to finish and was done without a reference picture. Basically, I just recalled how Daniel Radcliffe had looked when he was a bit younger. The hair took the most time, but the doe was undeniably the most fun to do. Hints of pre-slash Snarry, but mostly just a portrait. It's my first time trying a realistic portrait of a male character, so I'm pleased it came out so well.

The Kiss

The Kiss was a 15 minute speed paint of Harry and Snape kissing. Nothing major, really. I added the coloring on Harry's face at the end, not really having planned to do it. I'm a bit disappointed with how Snape came out, but I couldn't correct it because it was meant to be a practice speed paint and not a serious work. I'm trying to not get overtly obsessed with things! :)

I currently have two Snarry sketches, neither of which are complete and only one of which I feel I can show a preview of since the other is for the Snape_Potter Snarry-A-Thon. I'm getting too picky with the latter and I need to wrap it up quickly so I can get to the more time consuming painting of the art!

I'll see about posting the other sketch later. Neither are what I'd consider worksafe and I can't upload them to my website (because they do not allow adult images and I don't want to get in trouble with them).
